CHICAGO, Illinois – Glenn Tilton, United Airlines' bestyrelsesformand og CEO, blev onsdag udnævnt til præsident Obamas eksportråd. Rådets mål er at fordoble Amerikas eksport i løbet af de næste 5 år, samtidig med at man adresserer forpligtelsen til at fuldføre Korea/USA-frihandelsaftalen.
"Den amerikanske luftfartsindustri, specifikt netværksselskaber, der flyver internationalt, vil spille en afgørende rolle i at nå målet om at fordoble USAs eksport i løbet af de næste fem år og vil fortsat være en motor for økonomisk vækst, der muliggør global handel og bevægelse af mennesker og varer," sagde Tilton.
Tilton, som er formand for Air Transport Association, tjener også i DOT-sekretær LaHoods Future of Aviation-rådgivende udvalg.

- “The US aviation industry, specifically network carriers that fly internationally, will play a critical role in achieving the goal of doubling America's exports over the next five years, and will continue to be an engine of economic growth enabling global trade and the movement of people and goods,” Tilton said.
- The goal of the council is to double America’s exports over the next 5 years, while at the same time addressing the commitment to complete the Korea/US free trade agreement.
- Tilton, who is chairman of the Air Transport Association, also serves on DOT Secretary LaHood's Future of Aviation Advisory Committee.
