The 32nd edition of Top Resa, the French tourism trade fair of Paris, closed its door on a very positive note. The Seychelles delegation returned home satisfied after accomplishing this mission.
Top Resa is the turning point of the tourism season coinciding with the launch of the tour operators’ winter brochures and the different promotional campaigns by different actors in the industry. Like in previous editions, the Seychelles stand at Top Resa was very busy on the first three days implying that interest in the country lives on.
The press and media were of course “au rendezvous” as a significant amount of journalists stopped by the Seychelles stand. The Seychelles Tourism Director for Europe, Mrs. Bernadette Willemin, was invited to give some interviews.
The trade show was punctuated with numerous highlights. Apart from the numerous professional contacts between the exhibitors, the brands, and the visitors, exclusive events took place on the fair grounds. On the Seychelles front, the highlight was the signing of the renewal of the joint promotion partnership agreement between the Seychelles Tourism Board and Air France. The National airline, Air Seychelles, also maximized the show to the fullest and seized the opportunity to showcase to the industry at large the new pearl-class seats.
The Seychelles was represented by a 25 strong delegation representing 11 companies made up of a number of hotels, Air Seychelles, and local destination management companies.
Top Resa 2010 has thus fulfilled its role as one of the world’s major tourism trade fairs and this in terms of the number of visitors and exhibitors alike. Its main role as a forum for travel trade professionals has proven, once again, very fruitful, enabling participants to renew contacts and meet with new interlocutors, discover or re-discover new tourism products and services.
At the same time, it must be underscored that stiff competition still characterizes Top Resa and it is the presence therein that a given destination displays its assets to keep its market share, if not increasing it. Le Meridien Seychelles, Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort & Casino, The Sunset Hotel Group of Hotels, Seychelles Connect, Mason’s Travel, Cerf Island Resort, Creole Travel Services, Le Relax Hotels Group, Air Seychelles, and Raffles Resort of Praslin were the Seychelles tourism trade partners who made the effort to be with the Tourism Board at Top Resa 2010.
Alain St.Ange, administrerende direktør for Seychelles Tourism Board og eTurboNews ambassador, said to the press after the return of the Seychelles delegation that France remains the country’s main tourism market and that as such it had to be continuously nurtured. He thanked all tourism establishments and businesses who had supported the country’s tourism marketing efforts by being present at the Seychelles stand at Top Resa.
“You are paying year after year to be part and parcel of the Seychelles stand at this trade fair to not only promote your own business but to also help make Seychelles more visible in the market place. For this we thank you. Seychelles needs its committed partners to stand on the front line with the Tourism Board to spread the message about Seychelles,” Alain St.Ange said.
