– PATA: The Pacific Asia Travel Association has stepped forward to voice its strong opposition to Britain’s air passenger duty, which has increased by 140 percent for economy class and 325 percent for business class since 2007. However, observers say there appears to be no-one listening.

– UK’S WONDERFUL YEAR OF SPORT: Cyclist Bradley Wiggins has capped his remarkable sporting year by winning the 2012 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award. As Wiggins received his latest trophy from the Duchess of Cambridge, he did so not only as the Tour de France champion and Olympic time trial gold medalist, but also as a symbol of Britain’s sporting annus mirabilis.
