TUMON, Guam – The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) is pleased to announce the first of three inaugural charter flights from Dynamic Airways arrived on island Wednesday afternoon for the Chinese Lunar New Year. The airline is the newest to partner with GVB and flew in over 200 Chinese visitors from Beijing. Two other inaugural flights from Dalian and Chengdu, as well as an additional Beijing flight, are also expected to bring more than 800 visitors in the next few days. Combined with charter flights from United Airlines, over 1,780 Chinese visitors will be arriving in Guam through February 7.

In FY2013, arrivals from China to Guam rose 14.9% over the previous year from 9,040 to 10,384. While China arrival numbers continue to rise, a visa waiver would increase visitor arrivals dramatically. Since 2009, Guam’s government leadership and private sector businesses have been working collaboratively to secure a China visa waiver for Guam from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

“With or without the visa waiver, we are aggressively pursuing the visitor market in mainland China,” said GVB General Manager Karl Pangelinan. “We are pleased with the number of charter flights coming into Guam for the Lunar New Year and we thank United Airlines and Dynamic Airways for their support. Everything that GVB is doing moving forward is in line with our Tourism 2020 plan to benefit our island community and show our visitors Guam is the world class destination of choice.”

Established in 2010, Dynamic Airways is a certified charter airline headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina. “Dynamic Airways is a new partner in the charter business for Guam and they bring exceptional airline experience and value to our island,” said GVB Marketing Manager Pilar Laguaña.

The first charter flight from China to Guam was operated by United Airlines and arrived from Shanghai in 2008.
