Ethiopian Airlines, den største luftfartskoncern i Afrika, er glad for at kunne meddele, at de har afsluttet forberedelserne til lanceringen af Zambias National Carrier i et joint venture med Industrial Development Corporation Limited (IDC). Ethiopian har 45 procent af aktierne i joint venturet, mens Industrial Development Corporation Limited (IDC) beholder 55 procent, har aktionærerne bidraget med USD30 millioner i kapital til etableringen af flyselskabet.
Det nye Zambia Airways (ZN) skal slutte sig til African Sky med sin første indenrigsflyvning fra Lusaka til Ndola den 1. december 2021, og det vil operere med en frekvens på seks og fem gange om ugen til henholdsvis Ndola og Livingstone. Andre indenrigsruter til Mfuwe og Solwezi vil følge, før de introducerer regionale destinationer, til Johannesburg og Harare, til sit netværk inden for første kvartal af 2022.

Gennem sin strategi for flere hubs i Afrika, Ethiopian Airlines driver i øjeblikket hubs i Lomé (Togo) med ASKY Airlines, Malawian i Lilongwe (Malawi), Tchadia i N'Djamena (Tchad) og etiopiske Mozambique i Maputo (Mozambique), mens de har de allerede erhvervede aktier i Guineas og Den Demokratiske Republik Congos nationale luftfartsselskaber .
