India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) meddelte udnævnelsen af G Kamala Vardhana Rao, IAS-officer 1990 Batch, Kerala Cadre, som formand og administrerende direktør (C&MD) for ITDC.
Før Rao tiltrådte kontoret ved ITDC, blev Rao udpeget som hovedsekretær, regeringen for Kerala. Rao fungerede også som sekretær for Kerala Tourism i året 2014-15.
I en periode på tæt på 3 årtier har Rao fungeret i flere stillinger inklusive formand for Indian Tobacco Board; Direktør for fiskeriafdelingen; Direktør, Institut for Turisme & Kultur, Andhra Pradeshs regering; Administrerende direktør for SC / ST Corporation i Andhra Pradesh; indtægtssekretæren i Kerala; og distriktssamleren, Kollam, Kerala
ITDC blev inkorporeret i 1966 med et mandat til at udvikle og udvide turistinfrastrukturen i landet. Virksomheden har bevæget sig fremad med konsekvent indsats for udvikling, vækst og service og faciliteter i verdensklasse til sine gæster.
Bortset fra at køre hoteller har ITDC diversificeret sig til ikke-hotel-sektorer som billetter, ture og rejser, begivenhedsstyring, toldfri shopping, reklame- og trykningskonsulentbistand, ingeniørrådgivning, montering af lyd- og lysshow, gæstfrihedsuddannelse og kompetenceudvikling.
